ipod mini 2g crashes on usb connection after 3.0 upgrade

(1/1)

troby:
I've been running 2.5 with no problems and a week ago upgraded to 3.0 using the installer. It seemed to go OK and my player acted normally in standalone mode. However now when I try to connect to my Windows XP SP3 PC via USB I see the USB icon on the screen and the system shuts down. Battery is OK. Tried multiple USB ports. The same USB connection works OK with my Nano 2G via Itunes. The mini 2G works OK standalone if I go through about 3 reset cycles after the USB crash occurs. I can't uninstall or reinstall because the PC never sees the device after I connect it. I tried on a second PC and it also never sees the device.

I did an Itunes "reset to factory" after selecting "disk mode" (select+play) and then reinstalled RB 3.0. It now sees the ipod and does not crash on a USB connection. This time I did a minimal installation. I still think there's some problem with 3.0 based on the number of recent posts about ipods no longer connecting.

AlexP:
You haven't been running 2.5, that was released three years ago and for Archos only.

I very much doubt that there is any particular problem with 3.0, as it is just a specific version of the source - it is probably just that we have more people using it owing to all the publicity.

Please note also that this is nothing to do with installation or uninstallation, so I have moved it.
