Ipod Nano 1st Gen No Connection to PC

when i plug my ipod in it doesn't show up on the computer.  i've had rockbox installed and running on my ipod for a week and i never had this problem before if you can help i will truly be grateful

Does it reboot into disk mode properly when you plug it in ?

yes it boots into disk mode but when i look for the ipod it just says removeable disk and when i click on it it says disk needs to be formatted

Don't know if this helps you, but I had a similar problem when WindowsXP suddenly refused to accept one of my Nanos directly from Rockbox.

It still worked, however, when I switched into Disk mode manually. You do this by shutting off the Ipod (hold PLAY/PAUSE until it shuts off) and then pressing both SELECT and PLAY/PAUSE at the same time. Now connect the Ipod to your computer. It will probably work.

To leave Disk mode, hold SELECT and MENU for a few seconds until the Ipod resets.
