Playback order
« on: October 10, 2008, 06:08:09 PM »
To play in the CD track order, I have prefixed all of my files by track number.  However, RB appears to sort as character, not numeric.  Therefore, if the CD has 10 or more tracks, it will play in the following order: 1, 10, 11, ...,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9.  Is there a way to get RB to sort numerically?  Thanks.

I thought about that--I was hoping to find an easier solution!

If you have the correct name and track number in the ID3 tags, you can use a software to auto-rename your files.. most of them will give 01, 02, etc.

I use Mp3/Tag Studio.

This has been suggested before and rejected. Add a 0 in front of single digit tracks to get them sorted as you desire or use the database. Some rippers can also automatically generate a playlist of the cd so that feature may be worth looking for if you don't like the other suggestions.

Good tagging software will usually let you specify the number of digits for the tracknumber when naming files based on their metadata.  If you set all files to have the same number of digits for the leading tracknumber then you won't have this problem.  Also, if your files are tagged properly some programs (like MP3Tag) can do your whole collection in one run.
