POLL: Next track info or album art more important?
« on: October 09, 2008, 10:51:11 PM »
Hi, I am working on a theme which incorporates the %mv tag so that it displays different information when volume is changing. Would you prefer a theme to have the next track info displayed by default and the album art displayed when the volume changes? OR would you prefer a theme to have the album art displayed by default and the next track info displayed when the volume changes?

Of course, if there is no album art available, next track info will be displayed continuously.

This sounds like a fundamentally bad design to me. If someone wants to see whichever one isn't visible normally they HAVE to change the volume?

Why not use something like checking if hold is on, instead?

There are 2 reasons why I prefer the %mv tag to the hold tag:
1. The hold button is used by most people (including me) in conjunction with some option to turn the screen off since a player on hold is usually in some dark place not being looked at. Thus, the data that is displayed when hold is on never gets seen by a lot of people (including me).
2. The %mv tag reverts back to false soon after you stop changing volume. This makes it useful for viewing stuff you may only want a short glimpse at (album art or next track info depending on your tastes). A hold switch tag does not allow you to revert back to the default state soon after pressing hold.

Why not use %mv to display the volume info only while the volume setting is being changed? That seems a more logical use to me.

Using PMs to annoy devs about bugs/patches is not a good way to have the issue looked at.
