e260 (not R), MSC mode, Linux, sansapatcher, OEM fW v01.02.18A [SOLVED]
saratoga:
Thats not a rhapsody.

Ok, in KDE, I elected to safely remove the device first.
After safely removing it as user, I opened a terminal as user, ran "su -" to get to be root, I changed to the directory which held sansapatcher, and then ran ./sansapatcher. No error messages, but this time, execution took almost 3 seconds, when earlier runs were just about 1 second. I then removed the cable, the e2x0 rebooted and... I'm now Rockboxing!
Very minor correction for the sake of accuracy: the icon on my KDE desktop is actually titled "SD Player".
The files which I promised earlier:

So, I wonder how that removal impacts RockBox....).

I doubt they actually told you how to convert an R into a non-R (since its complicated and cannot be done using their software), so the install should be the same as any other R player.
--- End quote ---
Yeah, no conversion, sorry....
Just now, she called Sansa about her current e260R, and she asked the same question about removing the Rhapsody stuff; they reviewed her prior support call, and what they did was they only restored her missing storage space.
As the 2 players came out of their box (for her first player and for this replacement), Rhapsody and the included tracks ate over 1/2 of her advertised 4 gigs of storage, so she called Sansa about the 4.0G = 1.8G problem. Both then and now, what she got from Sansa tech support was they restored the missing 2 gigs of her storage space.
The details? Gladly: set the e260r in 'Rhapsody' mode, then connect it to a Windows PC (her PC is XP Home). In Windows go to 'My Computer', right click the Sansa, select format, then click OK to format it. Yes, the e260r mode menu still says 'Rhapsody' mode and 'Plays for Sure' mode, but at least right now, over 2 gigs of space has been restored, she now has 3.8G storage on her 4.0G device.
