USB drawing power from battery sporadically - Gigabeat F40

(1/1)

kass:
Maybe someone can help me out here.  Every once in a while (3 times in 2 1/2 months, most recently: today), I'll have my gigabeat attached to the computer USB, and when I go to use it afterwards, there is no power, even when it had just been charged fully (through USB) within the last hour.  Does this indicate a bad battery, or something else?  I updated rockbox last week, so its a recent build, and it has happened on different computers.  I didn't have this problem on a F20 I had before.  I have an original power cable, and I was able to charge the F40 with it when this happened before, although last time it took several attempts with variations of plugging it in and switching the battery switch (meaning it didn't work at first, but a couple hours later,  I plugged it in again and the gigabeat started charging and I have no idea what I did differently).

markun:
I have had a message like "low battery" or "now battery" or something like that many times when I try to turn on my Gigabeat F40. On the 2nd attempt of turning it on it always works. I think it's a bug in our shutdown code.

kass:
I forgot about that - I used to get that error too, but not recently.  This is different...
