noob w/ 30 gig Ipod video. Unable to play WMA files I loaded, prob. something ez

Alright, first off I am a total noob when it comes to Ipods let alone Rockbox.

Got the software loaded two days ago, no problems at all there.

I dragged and dropped a few CD's into the folder and attempted to play them on my Ipod. The error I get is (root)(root) and nothing plays. Is it a problem with the way I ripped the music? Some cd's work fine and others won't work.

Thanks everyone, sorry for the noob question, I really appreciate the help.

Evan

BTW, the music that I cannot play is located in the "files" folder vs. the "database" folder. I updated the database and no change.

Just to be clear: are you saying that if you play a file through the file browser it doesn't work but if you play the very same file from the database it does work?

If not, it could be a ripping issue. Make sure the files are "plain" WMA; i.e., in the rip options in Windows Media Player, copy protection should be off and the format should not be WMA Pro or WMA Lossless.

And you just diagnosed the problem. Every single file I have is in windows lossless. Oddly, one disc still works that I think is ripped in lossless.

Thank you, I appreciate it.

It will not allow me to play the track at all, but shows up in the file folder and not the music folder (the one with the music note next to it).
