Is there any way to use old themes with the new 3.0 version of Rockbox?
(1/1)
sax006:
Currently I have a theme that I am using with Rockbox 1.4 that I really like, but I want to have all of the updated features of Rockbox 3.0. Is there any way to use this theme with rockbox 3.0? Any time I try to use it, it says "incompatible version." I have a Sansa e250.
LambdaCalculus:
Rockbox 1.4 was released only on the old Archos players. How is it possible for you to use themes from that version on a Sansa?
Please clarify what you're trying to say, because this is confusing.

When booting up the version says 14975 and some other numbers that I couldn't catch. It has the old versions of themes on it though. I'm not sure exactly what version it is, I got it from pc-pad.com. Here is the link: http://www.mediafire.com/?3zujeg5jg3n
soap:
1st - that version of Rockbox is old as sin. (Almost exactly one year) You really want to upgrade to 3.0 if you want stability. Perhaps current builds if you want to be part of the hip crowd.
2nd - Yes, many (most) of the themes which worked then do not work now. Some (many?) have been updated to the new WPS syntax and can be found in the wiki gallery.
3rd - We can not, and thus do not support anything other than official builds installed with the official tools. I have no idea what is different about your version of Rockbox but it clearly isn't stock. Please petition the provider for support of this package if you do not wish to use official builds.
4th - We have an excellent manual which details the official install process.

Thanks for the help, I looked at the wiki, edited the wps a bit, and now the theme works fine. ;D
