iPod Will Not Boot
iPodZombie:
The iPod will not boot. I installed the firmware following instructions. Rockbox loads and I am now my iPod with Rockbox. I goto library, and it creates a database. It tells me to shut down. I shut down, then I press a button to turn it on- nothing. I keep trying but it will not boot. I plugged it into the computer, but that will not work. I hope you can help.
Thanks.

Give it a long charge, preferrably from a wall charger. And search first, this has been asked like a million times before.
iPodZombie:
I have been charging for the past nine hours, would that be too long, or should I keep charging? It has yet to show anything on the screen.
I searched-

This did not help because the user had something actually showing on the screen.

This was the closest I could get to it. But, the only difference is he can hear clicking of the hardrive, whereas I cannot (I checked for clicking the first second after my iPod would not boot)
I have a 5g 30gb Video.
It is in disk mode at the moment.
The problem occurred after it requested me to shut down the iPod, which was after it made the database on my iPod of all my music.

So what are you referring to as "nothing"? If it doesn't show anything charge it. You might need to manually reset it after a while -- there is a bug in apples firmware that triggers when battery is low.
iPodZombie:
I have been charging for the past nine hours, but I will continue. If I reset, it will just go back to factory settings and I will just have to re-sync my iPod? (That would be fantastic.)
EDIT:
It seems all of the ways to reset the iPod require it to be on while doing so. I tried them all.
The only other thing I could think of is, what if I left my iPod run out of battery just from sitting around (I have no idea how long that would take). Would that reset the iPod, or just ask for me to charge up (if it was working)?
