CD rip on Toshiba Gigabeat

(1/1)

buckw:
I am a brand new RB user, having just installed it on my F-40.  My first revelation was that RB would not play music that had been encrypted with Toshiba's miserable .sat, and I had to delete all of those tracks.

I have a question about CD ripping.  Using Gigabeat Room, there is a feature (rip-rec) that will rip a CD's contents directly to the device without necessarily creating a .mp3 copy on the PC hard drive.  Is there a similar way to directly rip a CD to the Gigabeat with RB, or must a .mp3 version be created first?

Thanks!

Chronon:
No.  That action requires interaction between the cradle and a PC application.  It should be possible for someone to write an application that would do something like this, but nothing like this exists currently.  It doesn't seem like that great of a feature to me, anyway.  I don't see any problem with using any standard CD ripper and telling it to save the tracks to an appropriate place on the Gigabeat.

http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/UsefulTools#CD_Ripping has a list of possible rippers.
