battery life on 5th gen ipod /w rockbox

I want to use oggs and I have an ipod 5th gen. the only option is rockbox but I am worried about battery life. does rockbox use as much battery as the original OS? or more? thanks.

I believe Rockbox on PortalPlayer targets (of which the iPod is one) still tends to use somewhat more battery power than the OF does, though lately the numbers are much closer than they used to be. Just note that those test results are somewhat out of date... You may be well off getting Rockbox and trying it out to see how long it lasts for you. If you really don't like it, you can always remove it afterward.

Not on all portalplayer devices, no.
For instance the e200 gets longer battery life, as do 1st-3rd gen ipods. The ipod video does get less, about 10% less. I don't know about the others.

Great, but without you doing a test under exactly the same conditions in the original firmware, this statement isn't much use.
