complicated Problem with iAUdio X5 + rockbox,
« on: September 29, 2008, 06:09:40 AM »
hey, I'm using rockbox for a long time now,
lately my screen on the iaudio was broken, so i installed voicebox, all i see is black.
so i cant really use options and configs cause i cant see anything :P

all i can do with the player is go to MUSIC.... no options no movies no icons no backs etc...

the problem started a few months ago, that some songs (99% of them actually) freeze during the song, and i have to reset the player...

it always happens at the same songs, the same second on the song and always i can feel the device vibrates a little before it freezes.

any idea what the hell can i go? it freezes about every 4-6 minutes...

just updating to rockbox 3.0 to see if anything is better...

How did you break the screen?  It could well be that you broke something else as well, such as the hard drive.  First thing I'd do is run a disk check on it.

Assuming that you are running Windows, open a command prompt and run

chkdsk /f x:

where x: is the driver letter of the X5

What happens if you try to play the problematic files on your PC from the X5?

should i try to run them straight from the G: drive or should i copy them to my PCs drive first?

ok just heard a song straight from G drive, and it worked perfectly, even though when i hear it on my iaudio it freezes at 6:40 Always.

What format are the songs - format, bitrate, tags, sample rate etc.

Also, you say this still happens with 3.0?

6 months is incredibly old.  Voice works just fine on 3.0 as far as I am aware (disclaimer - I haven't tried).  Perhaps you should start a new thread on getting that to work?

if someone would be kind enough to take a picture of the 3 menues at 3.0 that get me to "my music" that would help alot.

MAIN MENU>FILES>MUSIC>music.........

those 3.

so i could know how many clicks to get to the music.

Everything after FILES are folders on your device, and will vary depending on how you've placed information on your player. Nobody can create pictures of that for you unless they have your player in their hands. They're not menus, but an actual file and folder listing.

Have you tried downloading the newest voicebox? Older voice clips may not work with newer versions of Rockbox, and if you're trying to re-use an old copy of the generation tool, you'll just get "new" old-style clips.

Voicebox doesn't read the main menu. Voicebox is a script for creating talk files for use on the player. The main menu is spoken by the voice file using Rockbox's voice UI.

Please, try explaining again using the terms we use for things, so that I can know exactly what problem you're having, since apparently it's not with voicebox.
