How large a microSD card?

Hi.  I understand that Rockbox allows C200s and E200s to use high density microSD cards.  Does anyone know how large a high density microSD card can be used?

MicroSDHC specification allows up to 32GB cards.  Any size of microSDHC card should work.

When I use one that is greater than 2gb, which is larger than the native Sansa software can handle, do I need to remove the card to load the files via a card reader, or can I do it through the player itself?

You need to use a card reader.

Currently, Rockbox (on the Sansas) doesn't have a USB mode.  The SanDisk firmware does not support microSDHC, so you can't transfer files to it from that firmware.  You have two options:

1) Use a card reader to transfer files to/from it.

2) Transfer files to the Sansa and then move files or directories, one at a time, using Rockbox.

The first option is obviously more convenient.

Has anybody actually tried one of the new 16gb sandisk microSDHC cards in one? I'm about to buy one for my e280 (to replace the 8gb microSDHC in there now) and it would be nice to hear somebody else say they've tried it successfully already.

24gb total memory in this little guy sounds pretty sweet.

I don't recall seeing anyone mention that here yet.   But there have not been any problems with any capacity of microSDHC card that I have seen.  Personally, I wouldn't worry about it that much.

FWIW, even though it was mentioned on that other forum, I wanted to state that the Sandisk 16gb MicroSD they are selling on Amazon officially works in my Rockbox'd Sansa e280.
