Hello Noob Qs on Rockbox for Sansa...

Hello

Complete noob and have been amazed at this great looking development. I hope this post is going in the right place.

I am imminently probably going to purchase a Sansa Fuze 8GB and would love to be able to install Rockbox especially due to the incredible codec support.

As far as I can tell it looks like there is a version in the pipeline and was wondering if and when Rockbox is likely to support these models. If its a long time or never I may purchase one of the models that is supported.

Also how forgiving is the uninstall process, is it reliable to uninstall if I needed to send back to manufacturer etc.?

Ports are done by owners in their spare time and therefore we do not give any estimates or even guarantees that a port will ever be done as it is impossible to say.

An uninstall is possible with all currently supported models, have a look at the manuals for more information.

As I have understood, the developper are at this moment trying to modify the original firmware to be able to launch rockbox. It's the first step of the port and perhaps the hardest (and it will perhaps not succeed). If it works the other steps should be easier but not shorter.

So the port should not be for tommorrow...

I bought a sansa fuze thinking it will be quick and easy to port rockbox to it because of the support for the previous version (sansa 200) and I am quitely disapointed too...

But I can now wait since sansa fuze firmware update bring the ogg and flac codec support!
