Rockbox Utility Won't Reconize e280

(1/1)

weijia:
The e280 I have is running the latest Sandisk firmware, has 1100 songs on it.

My computer is running XP Professional SP3.  I've tried getting the Utility to recognize it in both MSC and MTP mode but it won't.  I've even redirected to the right drives, it accepts it in MTP mode but then when I click "install all" or "install bootloader" the utility states "no device detected".

Any suggestions?  I've also tried manually copying all of the .rockbox files into the MTP mode but to no avail other than a faster startup time into the Sandisk firmware (for some reason).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

What is the firmware version?  If it's version 3 it's a v2 and is unsupported, if it's version 1, it's a v1 and is.

weijia:
The Sansa firmware is 3.01.16 which I'm guessing would then be unsupported.

Is there no way to port Rockbox over for v3?  I remember hearing about how Sandisk was actually supporting the Rockbox project.

If there is no way to install on v3 with the utility, would the manual install work?  Or would I have to restore the original firmware?  If the latter is the option, how do I go about doing that?

Llorean:
v3 firmware means your player has completely different hardware, that Rockbox can't work on without people owning that hardware making a lot of changes to Rockbox.

Sandisk is not helping us, they donated a small amount of hardware, back in the v1 hardware days.

weijia:
Ho-hum.  Thanks for the info, though!  I guess I'll just have to wait around for the Gigabeat S Rockbox version to come out.

In the meantime, I'll go ahead and donate five bucks to the cause in the hopes of helping things along.
