Ipod generation (compatibility)
« on: September 28, 2008, 09:44:30 PM »
Hi, I just downloaded RockBox in hopes of modding my iPod, but unfortunately my iPod nano 2nd gen isn't supported. Just wondering will there be any new releases that will be compatible with this gen, or will RockBox work with the new iPod coming out (i think its called the chromatic).

Thanks, if anybody knows anything about these compatibility issues then please post =)

Simple answer is no, the hardware is largely unknown and the firmware is encrypted.

The newest Nano is no doubt in the same boat as the rest of the recent iPods.

Please search the forums before posting, as per the guidelines.

Rockbox gets ported to new players by people who own them and are interested, ports are not planned and many ports get started but never finish, so it's impossible to make any predictions.
