Replacing the reset switch on an iRIver H140?
« on: September 28, 2008, 08:34:57 PM »
OK I just got an H140 with a dead HDD and a bad reset switch.
(I didn't know about the reset switch... bummer)

Does anyone know the part number? I am going to attempt to replace the switch but I am having trouble identifying the exact part in the mouser catalog. How does one go about identifying parts like this?

Failing miserably, please help, Davide-NYC. :)

Sharp eyes and a really powerful magnifying glass? ;)

Seriously though, are there any identifying marks on the switch? Or anything markings on the board? That could help provide some clues to find the right part.

But exactly what's wrong with the reset switch? If it's broken clean off of the board, you should be able to just solder it back on... I had the same done to a friend's H120 that had a busted play button switch.

The guys over at MisticRiver forum have a thread that might become a tremendous resource for H1x0 enthusiasts.

Check it out here.

They may have identified the switches, the lateral "hold" switch and the joystick already. Those represent all of the 'moving' parts already.

Indeed. Mysticriver is an excellent resource for more deep-down information about the iriver players.

Good luck getting the iriver back into shape, dude.
