Ipod photo won't charge
dmoseder:
Ok guys i have a problem. I install rockbox on my ipod photo. i decided i didn't like it and used the utility to uninstall it it said complete and i reset the ipod and a charge symbol came up so i plugged it in and it won't charge or turn back on now, any ideas?
Llorean:
Leave it charging overnight.
dmoseder:
OK I will leave it to charge, there is no indication that it is charging and the screen is blank though. I'll post back tomorrow morning
Update: Well its been plugged in for 12 hours now still nothing... There was nothing wrong with my battery and i've never had a problem with it, All i did was use the rockbox utility and install the software i messed around with it and used the utility to uninstall it, it said uninstall complete but rockbox was still up so i tried to restart and a charging symbol came up and then it just went blank and disconnected from my computer.
I've never not had my ipod say charging when i plug it in or anything, so i don't know what happened. I really hope its not broken because of this...

I have almost the exact same problem. I own an iPod photo and I just installed Rockbox 3.0 this morning. Everything went fine. I had it build the database. Still fine. I think after the database was built it asked me to reboot. So I held the menu button down, the interface said "Shutting Down." And then it turned off. Fine. But now it will not turn back on. I plug the iPod into my computer and it is not detected and the screen does not turn on. I plug the iPod into the wall to charge and nothing happens; the screen does not turn on.
Does anyone know what is going on? Is there a bug in the 4th gen. iPod photo firmware? Is there any way for us to rescue our iPods? If anyone has any ideas please let us know. Thank you!
GodEater:
Virtually *all* the ipods that Rockbox runs on feature a bug in Apple's flash code. This can mean that they will not power on unless the hardware is reset.
Perform this by switch the hold switch to the "On" position, and then back to "Off", followed by pressing and HOLDING the Menu and Select buttons. Hold them for a good 30 seconds or so, until your ipod restarts.
