non technical question.....

What is a 'zero-poster'? Or what does that mean? (I'm still convinced there's a use for questions/topics/posts which fall outside of 'technical' queries but are relevant to rockbox

Nobody said non-technical questions are unwelcome, just ones that don't pertain to Rockbox. Questions about the website, forums, etc do pertain.

Zero-poster is a category every forum member is in until they've made one post. When they're in this category there's an extra board at the very top of the forum called "Spam" that disappears as soon as they've made one post.

This board exists, primarily, because evidence suggests Spambots posted to the first board in the forum so the hope was that Spambots would post to this board, while legitimate posters wouldn't even notice the extra board before they've posted and it vanishes.

Interestingly, a few people post to this Spam board, almost obviously because they didn't actually look and juts clicked the first place and posted. I can only wonder what they think when they are immediately unable to check on the post they've just made.

Ahh ok. But I'm sure I saw legitimate (once or twice or thrice at least) posters go from 1 or 2 posts to 'zero poster' in the space of a few hours or days.

It seems to me (although I have no idea if this is true) that if someone gets their first post deleted, they go back to being a zero poster

The post tracking with this forum software seems very consistent. If you can point me at anyone who has posts in any of the counted forums (which should be all subforums except Unsupported Builds) but is listed as a zero-poster, I'll investigate.

I suspect though that it was just someone who'd managed to get their posts deleted or otherwise removed.

That sounds about right. I think I remember seeing posts by people which were perfectly sensible and within the rules and then all a sudden they were 'zero posters'. I'll try to recall specifics and let you know if it's suspect
