5th Gen. Battery dieing.

I have used rockbox for about 1 year now and for some reason just all of a sudden my battery keeps dieing after about 10 - 20 min. of play time even when I fully charge it.  I know there is a problem with rockbox because my battery lasts over 3 hours on the original Ipod firmware.  Does anyone know why this might be?

3 hours is basically a dead battery.  Get a new one.

No, I said over 3 hours; I never actually took the time to see how long the battery lasts because I haven't listened to my IPod that long.

So measure it, in both, under similar conditions.

If your battery is over a year old it's definitely not in great condition any more, anyway, and since Rockbox has a tendency to switch back and forth between high and low power use (whereas it seems like the original firmware might just sit at medium power use) it may be that when Rockbox hits a high power use, voltage drops, and your player thinks the battery's low for a little while.

its not that the battery meter says the battery is low, it could say the battery is at 80% and then after 10 min. of playtime the IPod will give my a low battery sign and just shut off.  The original firmware I can listen to it for hours and hours and it wont do that.
I'll try to measure it though.
