Hi.
I use an 80GB ipod with Rockbox 3.0
The error message was caused, I believe, due to a drive error after I disconnected without safe disconnect.
A scandisk/fix errors seems to have sorted it and I cannot now recreate what was a frequently occuring issue.

As you have found, it's important to always "Safely Remove Hardware".  I often have to force XP to do this as it likes to hide the icon from my system tray.

MarcGuay:
There is a setting in Windows XP (and possibly other versions) that allows you to set the drive to "Optimize for quick removal" so you can simply remove it and not bother with all of that nonsense.  I'm not sure if there is a speed cost but I suspect there is.
