After applying the Sept 21 daily build, my H340 now has this loud static sound when I play it, like an FM radio that isn't tuned in to any particular station... only, it's really loud and you can't hear any music.  I applied the Sept 22 daily build, small difference.  I can hear a bit of music but the loud staticky noise is still there.  I reverted to Sept 20 and the music comes out normally.  In all cases, playing music on the iriver original firmware is a-OK.  What could be the reason for this?

Are you playing MP3 by any chance?

I'm thinking it might be due to this:  http://svn.rockbox.org/viewvc.cgi?view=rev;revision=18557

It shouldn't affect non-portalplayer (including H300) targets, but it is MP3 related at the right time.

I've merged two topic as I suspect you are both seeing the same issue.

Sorry about the post in the wrong forum, my bad, man... thanks :)

Yep, I am playing mp3s. I can patiently wait for a solution to this, just wanted people to know that an H340 (and, as we've also seen, an H320) experience this problem.  In the Sept 21 build, static came out of both left and right channels.  In the Sept 22 build, it only came out of the right channel.

Looked at the link you posted and I see that the objective for this is quite admirable.  I hope things get straight soon.  In the meantime, still a happy and contented Rockbox user.  Best of luck to saratoga!

Confirmed on h320, r18557 caused nasty noises in the right channel while playing mp3. r18563 is affected too.

Pardon my ignorance, but should I tell saratoga about this, or is this post enough for him to bring the matter to his attention?

I've opened a bug report on it and I've rather cheekily assigned it to him:

http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/9414

I'm sure also as soon he appears on IRC someone will be sure to let him know :)

I tried the latest build on the Gigabeat F (single processor ARM), and it works fine.  Theres nothing Coldfire specific about the COP changes, so I'm not sure why there should be any difference on the various single processor targets.

Thank you for your support.   i hop you  can close this issue, because i don't want to use iriver firmware , it not support  Album art and Thai language.

Anyone want to try this on the H300 and see if it helps?

Works on the H340, man :) nice effort!

I know I'll probably get an answer I don't quite understand, but how did you fix it?

Thanks again, my friend! :)

WOW...

..coming from a non-developer like me (I'm actually a sysad), that's actually quite intriguing that a missed character can do that.  But again, thanks a lot man.
