Current Rockbox Compatible Players

Can anyone recommend a currently available mp3 player that is compatible with Rockbox - we want to support a group of VI users but need this to be with new equipment not used.

Unfortunately there are no currently in production players that rockbox works on, although some are in development.  However it is impossible to say when (if ever) they will be 'finished'.

Somebody else on Rockbox, sorry I can't remember who, referred to the Froobi site http://www.froobi.com which sells refurbed 'Rockbox ready' Sansas (as in you can put it on yourself.) Here's the latest url shortened http://tinyurl.com/3u85ap

Thats really helpful does anyone know how you tell with the Sansa which versionis being supplied - I can find Sansa's here in the UK but the spec doesnt tell you which model they are supplying

Sadly the only sure way is to look at the version number of the Sansa firmware -

v1.xx.xx is a v1 and
v3.xx.xx is a v2.

Unfortunately you can only do this by turning it on and looking, so you need to open the box etc.

I'd be very surprised if any new ones were v1, save the odd refurbished one.

Which is why the froobi site is so nice, since they tell you whether it's a V1 or not before you pay for it.
