Ipon Nano First Generation Vista user, could not open ipod. *Read inside*
« on: September 17, 2008, 08:10:13 PM »
Alright I will make this short and simple. I run the Rockbox utility as admin, load up my First generation Ipod Nano and all seems well it patches it and downloads the file then says "Could not open Ipod." I have full admin rights on my computer so I don't understand this.. Any help?  ???

If it installed the bootloader then failed to extract the build to your player I would suspect a flaky USB connection.  Maybe try a different cable/port?  (Don't use USB hubs.)

The computer is brand new.. I will try all of my USB ports though. Ok I tried all of my ports and one worked... I seriously don't think there is something wrong with ALL of them.. Any advice I really want Rockbox.  :'(

So what advice are you waiting for if one usb port worked? Bootloader installation is a critical part, and its known that especially front usb ports and having a usb hub in between can make the bootloader installation fail. This usually doesn't affect all other data transfers but only bootloader installation.
