What do you mean by refreshing?

The files are gone from the player but the database is not updating properly?  If you initialize the database does this fix things?

Here's a little tidbit from the manual that will probably answer your question:

"If Auto update is set to on, each time the player boots, the database will automatically be updated.

Note: The Auto Update will only check for deleted files if the Directory Cache (Settings → General Settings → System → Disk → Directory Cache) is enabled. Update now includes that check whether dircache has been enabled or not. "

Are the files that you deleted listed in there?  I am going to assume that the database still sees them because it's finding them in that hidden directory.  By the way, are you sure it's named "trash"?

Try running the Disktidy plugin and then update your database again.

Actually, I'm not certain that Disk Tidy will remove that directory.  If not you can delete it from within Rockbox and update the database.

It's listed under Apps: http://download.rockbox.org/manual/rockbox-sansae200/rockbox-buildch10.html#x13-23800010.4.5

(Also, I edited my previous response.)

So, can you confirm that the problem was files stuck in the .Trashes folder by OSX?  Did updating after running Disk Tidy work?

Regarding deleting music while playing (WPS sub-menu) – it’s confusing. This operation does delete file from file system however song is still present in currently played playlist. Most interesting even after playlist advances to different song it still possible to come back and play deleted one!

I’m not sure if this is indented functionality or not. Marking currently played song for deletion is a nice feature but I believe it should work differently:
-   delete while playing should mark current song for deletion (same dialog as of now). Repeated delete operation should allow to “un-mark” (again using same dialog)
-   as soon as current song is over (stop, rew, ff, off, etc.) if it’s marked for deletion than file is deleted and song is removed from the playlist.

Yeah, it's still in the buffer, but the file is gone.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Rockbox does not attempt to flush the buffer until it's nearing the end of it, i.e., it's forced to get new data because it's gone though everything buffered.
