How *else* can I configure my backlight?

You have the source code, you can change anything you like.  Depending on what you want to do, it could be very easy or very difficult.

There is a patch, called "plugin-backlight", available here. It adds an option to the settings menu which allows you change the backlight behavior in plugins to "Always On". The backlight delay option (preset in lcd settings) governs the backlight behavior everywhere else. I guess that's exactly what you're after.

You may need to look up the wiki for information about setting up a build environment, if you haven't done already.

The patch is not for H10 5GB though (Forgot to mention that, sorry)

And another workaround is to set backlight to be on at all times and backlight to be always off when the hold slider is used...

The patch works with pretty much any player Rockbox supports. It's just that particular build which has to do with the iPod.

Good to know you got it sorted out though.
