Rockbox and my Alpine Headunit
« on: September 14, 2008, 08:50:18 AM »
Hi all. I haven't installed Rockbox yet but it looks like a great program. Before I do, I had a question that maybe someone could help me out with. I have an Alpine CDA-9887 headunit in my car with the Ipod cable which allows the Ipod to be controlled by the headunit and displays the music information on the headunit, such as artist and song info.
Do you think installing Rockbox would affect this function? The whole purpose of purchasing the Ipod (Classic) was for connection in the car. I do a lot of driving and like to have a broad music library.
I was thinking that since RockBox doesn't replace the original Apple software, when connecting it in the car, I could just boot to the apple software, connect it and be on my way?  ??? If anyone has any ideas or thoughts, please share them. Thanks for the help!

Rockbox does not work on the iPod Classic.
This is explicitly stated at the top of the home page.
