bpm counter (beats per minute)

As a DJ it would be cool to know what the bpm's of a track were that i was listening to. by going into the plugin section while listening to a track and manually tapping on the select button in time with the music a program would calculate the beats (or taps) per minute and display them. I'm no programmer but this doesn't sound to hard to do. The way I do it normally is by using a stopwatch but its very difficult. Any feedback would be appreciated.

having read that link markun, That post is referring to an automated program which would require complex programming and a drain on the cpu. I was thinking along the lines of something simpler.

If you just want to tap out the BPM yourself, use the metronome plugin.

strife89: the metronome plugin can't work while music is playing. This defeats the purpose of the OP's request.
