Problem with Database updating on Sansa e280

(1/2) > >>

scroach:
Hey guys, hope you can help me with a problem.
I updated my Rockbox Firmware to the latest (r18438).
But now i cant update my Database anymore. The sansa is searching for tracks and stops always at about 2000 tracks.
First i got the message: "Data abort at 32A23B26 (0)"
And then i got this one: "Undefined Instruction at 316E2876 (0)"

If this happens, i cant do anything to shutdown my sansa. I need to wait untill the battery is discharged.

Would be great if you could help me! thx

Chronon:
Well, first of all, you can always just hold the power button for about 15 seconds to force the player to power down.

I just tried on an e250 with r18438 and I encounter no such problem.  So, it seems like a particular problem on your player.  Maybe some file system corruption?  You could run chkdsk or a similar utility to try to fix such problems.

scroach:
Thx for the tip but chkdsk didn't work. It found faults in the file system but it didn't help to repair the file system. The error message still appeared.
So i tried to delete all my music on my sansa and some other folders and after a restart i put the music back on it and it worked :)
thx though

Chronon:
You're saying that you ran chkdsk /f and it couldn't repair the damage?

Lear:
Another possibility is "bad" metadata in a file, causing Rockbox to crash. To find the bad file, split the files into two halves, and remove or exclude (using database.ignore) one half. If the database update worked, the bad file is in the excluded half (otherwise it is in the included half). Repeat this with the half with the bad file until you have located the file. Send it to a developer (e.g. me) to figure out why Rockbox crashes.

Of course, if you have recently added/modified a smaller set of files, it should be enough to do the above on that set.
