Compiled plugins will not run
bluebrother:
Check if you have a virus scanner installed that keeps scanning the virtual disc image -- at least on cygwin virus scanners can immensely decrease the performance.
As for your problem executing the plugin itself, please try to add more information -- with the ones you already given I have no clue what could be the issue.

Thanks for your replies, I shall try the Simulator build option. Also, I discovered the cause of the extreme build lag: I was building from a shared directory on my host system (which is NTFS) ^^"
Also, after I have built with the simulator option, can i just type "make zip"; copy the files over to my host system and run it with the w32 version of the simulator I downloaded from a link in the wiki?

No - this won't work.

Compiling on Windows with Cygwin makes a simulator with working plugins. You can even take the compiled binary and run it on another Windows PC without Cygwin (so long as you copy sdl.dll with it), making it handy as a portable media-player app. ;)

Aha! I got it working at long last, and am now witting my plugin. ^_^
Being a windows user, I was typing "rockboxui", which did nothing. But i re-read the wiki and realised i was supposed to be using "./rockboxui".
Thank your everybody for your help.
