Need tutorial - .M3U playlists in ITunes?
ImagoX:
Hello all...
I've been Searching on the forum but I'm not seeing how I do something, sorry... here's my situation:
-New Mac user.
-Have an iPod, running Rockbox. LOVE Rockbox - I use it with my PC at work all the time. have about 100 playlist files, all .M3U format, which I use constantly.
-Just bought a Mac Air to use on trips and remotely.
-As per instructions from Mac, dragged the .M3U file into iTunes. This should copy the music files (to the Mac hard drive? to the ITunes library?) and play the playlist.
-HERE I GET AN ERROR - ITunes says it cannot copy the files - I assume because it's looking for the original Mac OS.
I really prefer the file tree structure of Rockbox and I don't know iTunes, so I'd PREFER to keep Rockbox, but do I have any options here that will allow me to keep my existing playlists in ITunes?
Thanks a million in advance!
-Matt
Chronon:
This is an iTunes issue, not a Rockbox one. I will guess that iTunes is not handling relative paths in the playlists well. Since you aren't accustomed to iTunes maybe you would be better off choosing a different media player.
ImagoX:
IS there a different media player that will run on a Mac and OS X? I agree it's a iTunes issue - I was just hoping someone here would know how to work around it.
AlexP:
Yes, there are many different media players. However, this isn't a Rockbox question.
ImagoX:
Well thanks for the help anyway. You know... if you WANT people to use Rockbox then you might want to consider HELPING people that use Rockbox, even if the issue is peripheral. I wouldn't even have to ASK this question in the first place if I were running the default OS, but I decided to use this OS instead. In the time it took you to type "this isn't a Rockbox problem" you could have also said, oh, I dunno, "I use player X". >:(
I'll ask on a Mac forum... I'm already looking forward to the torrent of responses that say "if you didn't run that crappy Rockbox you wouldn't have this issue, you know". Now I feel stupid for trying Rockvbox and not being a good little sheep.
Gee, thanks. Baaa.
