New firmware, usb weirdness

(1/1)

EvilWayz:
I installed teh current build today, and to my surprise when I plugged my sansa into my computer, instead of it restarting in the sansa firmware, a nice usb icon popped up and hte player did nothing.  I had to take the battery out of it to pwoer it off.

It's fine now, and for a precaution I switched it to oem firmware ware and plugged it in to recharge it.

I was wondering if this happened to anyone else, and if it means we are getting usb support in Rockbox soon.

Chronon:
You can just hold the power button to reset the player.  Am I correct in assuming that you plugged in the USB cable while Rockbox was running?

EvilWayz:
By running you mean playing?  Yes.  But I just repeated the experiment when it wasn't and it did the same thing.

I took the crystal case off and now the power button works fine apparently with the big old hunk of plastic over it I couldn't get enough pressur eon it.  So I have to turn it off and plug it in from now on?  I never used to, I just plugged it in and it restarted and went to oem firmware.

GodEater:
By "running" he doesn't mean playing - he means just that your player was turned on already, and had rockbox loaded.

The other choices could be :

a) The player was OFF when you plugged in USB
b) The player was booted into the original firmware when you plugged in USB.

My player still works that way (currently r18396).  But I have occasionally had this issue and have seen others report it occasionally.  I would advise that you plug the cable in while the player is off to ensure proper booting into Sandisk firmware.
