Welcome to the Rockbox Technical Forums!
I was wondering wether or not the development of it is up to the stage where the player is usable on a day to day basis, that is, charging, playing and editing files is all functional.
I don't want to mess with it too much until I'm sure it'll work properly. I dont mind a difficult install process, provided I have detailed instructions.
Also, just out of intrest, what is the battery life like without rockbox as compared to with it?
Any information about your experiences with RockBox on this player would be greatly appreciated.
As has been said, charging is not yet implemented from AC or anywhere else. You can charge in the original firmware - the problem is that to create a dual boot bootloader you need a copy of the original firmware, which has never been released by Toshiba. Therefore the only legit way to get it is to put the disk from the S into a caddy and copy it off. There is a patch for charging within Rockbox which from my testing seems to work well, but as charging has the potential to go wrong, it needs much more testing before it goes into SVN, as gevaerts said. The install is reversible and is just as easy as the install, if you have a copy of the OF as mentioned for dual booting above. Without this copy of the OF, it is not possible to uninstall.

I'm not too sure about the legality of it, so I'm not going to post a link to it. But if you search around for Zunepet's firmware recovery guide you'll find it. It has a copy of the hacked V updater and all the firmware files. I'm dual-booting using the nk.bin from that archive and it works perfectly.
