How bad of an idea is this?

Hiya, i've got a v1 e280r, just discovered rockbox, and i love it.  So much in fact when they fix the usb problem, I was going to try and replace to the stuff on the hidden partition with rockbox.


So what I'm wondering is would it work or would it brick my player?  I've got a 32 gb view as well so I'm wondering if I should sacrifice my 280 as a gift to the open source gods just to see what happens.

Do you mean you're thinking of replacing the Sansa firmware entirely?  I think this has been done already, search Flyspray for more info.

Maybe I'm not doing it right, but I'm not getting any relevant searches.

Incidentally, how come there isn't an UNinstall themes feature?

It took me a while to find it myself.  Seems to have been mixed up with some other ideas.

Bear in mind we have no idea, what, if anything, doing that will change about how your sansa works (battery life, etc).  And you lose recovery mode.

I understand that, and you are talking to a person that regularly crashes his linux boxes just to see if he can fix them.
