rockbox on e280v2????

is there anyway of getting rockbox on to my e280v2?
my friends are rubbing their v1 with rockbox on them i my face... almost literaly...

if yes please tell me!!!
if not... will you guys ever make a rockbox for v2s???

other then that my e280 rocks fine... nothing wrong with it... just really sad that i can't get rockbox on a STUPID v2... jezz!!!

You can't currently run Rockbox on a v2.  Some people seem to be working on it - look at the thread in the New Ports forum.

thanks for the info... i am just quite happy that they are actually working on it... since before on anyother forums there have been nothing about the version 2... also in the rockbox installation manual it said that version 2s will not work... and i was scared that they might not even care...

oh well... not a firmwear programmer my self... so i can't help... i wish i could though... since i am a visualbasic and c## codder...

am still in highschool so probably dont have time for those right now...

Who is this mysterious "they"?  It's not like this is an executive decision handed down from on high.  Ports happen naturally when people who have a device decide to do the work to get Rockbox running on it.

"they" to me are highly respected people to me... since they/rockbox makers made this crazy nice program to fix things that the stupid original snobish sansa programmers who make stupid converter that has crashing and failed to convert for no reason as a hobby...

so ya... i just respect snyone who stand up to those highly payed idiots who just program as a job and not looking at it as some kind of art... cause thats how i see programming... am a programmer my self...

i knowtised that actual pro programmers make shitty programs compaired to people like us who do it for fun...

I think Chronon's point is that there is no-one who says "Okay, Rockbox will be ported to this, this, and this player.  Definitely not the Sansa v2.  Let those bastards suffer.".  The people working on the v2 port are probably not the same people who did the original Sansa ports.

It's not necessarily the programmers' fault that the OF isn't as good as Rockbox.  They just code what they're told to.  Bugs could be because management people didn't allow enough time for testing.

I bet most of the Rockbox team also have paid day jobs in programming or related fields.

I don't even think any of the V2 hackers are even technically rockbox developers yet, although that'll change if the port is ever added to SVN.

The development thread's length and the fact that they are talking about stuff that you don't understand indicates that there's some actual work going on there.  That's about as good an answer as you will get.  Don't ask about timetables or anything of that nature.  They don't exist.
