Voice Recognition Software?
« on: August 18, 2008, 07:31:16 AM »
Hi, I was thinking about the idea for Rockbox voice recognition software, so that a user could use a built-in mic/ buy a mic for their player, then give it voice commands. You could also have a voice recognition lock on their player.  Does anybody have any ideas/ know of already existing software?

      -Thanks!

Nice thought it would be, there is unlikely to be enough CPU power for voice recognition on your DAP.  We don't (yet) even do text-to-speech in realtime.

I've been wondering myself if it would be possible to monitor the mic input during playback and spot a hard transient/clip (e.g. hand clap, or vocal click) then use that to skip a track.  Might be useful when driving.  Of course, I've not compared levels to see if the music itself would risk clipping, and thus have tracks that skip themselves... ;)
