Problems with a c250 (v1 with a firmware of 01.01.00 )

Hello, I've been having trouble with my sansa c250.   So, let me start at the begining.  My sansa never connected well to my computer, before and after putting rockbox on it.  It always said that it was a read only device.  So, a few days after putting rockbox on it, I was wondering if it was just in MSC mode, (the firmware was 01.01.05, which had no usb menu option).  So I reloaded it with 01.01.00, and still had trouble with connecting it.  After another few days, my sansa started to freeze.  It would work for about 30 seconds, and then, it would just freeze.  I have no idea what the problem is.

So could any of you help me with either of these two problems.

1.  Get the sansa to connect (I managed to get rockbox on one lucky time when it let me write to the device).
2.  Stop it from freezing.

BTW, the OF still works, but the OF is not nearly as cool ar Rockbox is.

I don't think trouble shooting problems with the OF really has anything to do with rockbox.  Maybe you could ask on a Sandisk message board?

Alright, I can do that with the first problem, but as for the second, it's rockbox that's freezing, not the OF.

Describe the problem in detail and maybe someone will have an idea.

Ok, I boot up.  Rockbox begins.  good.  I can play a file good.  But then after a few seconds, nothing works, and I'm forced to hard reset my player.  Also, the file continues to play, but all I get for the id3 information is /root

We're going to need more information than that :

1) What sort of file is it? MP3, OGG, something else?
2) How are you starting playback? Database / File browser / Playlist ?
3) What build are you running?

Anything else you can think of that might be useful.

1. It happens with both MP3 and OGG.
2.  I was using the file browser, but it still hapens with the database.
3.  I'm using, r18196-000005

Did you build that yourself ?

A proper Rockbox revision should have a date where you have 000005.

If the first part of the revision number is correct, it's already quite a few weeks out of date - could you update and try again?

No, I did not build it.
 but sure, I can get the new version.

Edit:  All right, I just couldn't read that small print.  It was actually supposed to say 080805.
Also, I'm still having connection troubles, will post again when I can add files to the sansa.

Finally after connecting it to my PC running windows, I was able to transfer the new .rockbox folder over.  Today's build didn't work, but the one before it worked great
