Gratitude and Question Regarding Rockbox on e260 v1

(1/1)

Mr.Anonymous:
Hi!

First off, and I'll make this brief, I'd like to thank everyone who has ever worked on Rockbox for creating it. My Sansa, while a very well built MP3, has the crappiest firmware ever: it'd "brick" up and/or corrupt my songs, and the only way I'd be able to fix it would be to format the whole thing and resync all of my songs over and over again. I was so close to tossing my Sansa and buying a e280 when I remembered reading about Rockbox on the Sansa Support Forums. So far, Rockbox has cured the problem.  You guys saved me around 90 bucks and further emotional toil, so thank you very much!

Now, before this thread is sentenced to the Trash bin, I have an issue regarding the Database: How do I get it to recognize my MP3s and WMAs? I tried syncing them on (player couldn't even find them), copying them on (player could find them, but only in the section called "Files"), putting the copies in the MUSIC folder (same as previous), and putting the copies in the .Rockbox folder (again, same as previous) I reread the Manual, but didn't see anything that would answer this question. Am I missing something? ???

Any and all assistance to a "n00b" like myself will be very appreciated.

Chronon:
Try initializing the database after setting "Show Files" to All.  Sandisk's firmware hides the MUSIC folder every time it runs.

Mr.Anonymous:
Hey, it worked. Thanks!  :)

Chronon:
You're welcome.   :)
Many users of Rockbox on e2xx's prefer to store their music in another directory to avoid that behavior.
