HD Sector size discrepency?
« on: August 16, 2008, 07:53:19 PM »
Hello,

I'm trying to run the current build, on never used before 5th gen, video ipod, 80G.
The HD is FAT32 formated and visable from windows.

Having installed the SW and bootloader seemingly succesfully several times (both manually and with the Utility) I can not boot the unit.
I get an error on the ipod:

*PANIC*
Unsupported physic
al sector size: 4096

However the ipodpatcher (V2.0) detects sector size as 2048
What sector size is RB designed for and why should my HD be any different?

I did wounder if my ipod (an ebay purchase) had previously been a 30G and as such the RAM might not be sufficient so tried the current build for the 30G also; with the same result.

Have I made a silly mistake or is it possable my ipod has a HD which is not compatable with RB?!

From the crash state mentioned above it is posable to switch to disk mode and unistall.
I haven't opened the unit to check the HD.
I do not have itunes... surley this couldn't be related?

Any advice most welcome!

Matt.

Try restoring it with iTunes.
