CF mod support for H10?
« on: August 15, 2008, 11:13:06 PM »
Hello,

I've recently been tasked at work with replacing the Hitachi 1.8" ZIF 40 drive in an iRiver H10 with a compact flash card.  I've got a 1.8" ZIF to CF adapter from Addonics, but my iRiver won't recognize the CF card, even with Rockbox installed.  From scouring the Rockbox website, it looks like there isn't a bootloader prebuilt for the H10 that supports CF card use.....could someone tell me if this is actually the case, or am I just missing something?  If there really is no current CF support for the H10, I'm wondering how difficult it would be for someone to cook up a bootloader that does support CF (I am not that great of a programmer)?

I would definitely like to hear more experienced Rockbox and H10 users' opinions on this.

Thanks...

Support should be in SVN. You shouldn't need to do any programming, just compile one from current sources.

To clarify: the support is in the sources, but the currently released bootloader is probably from before that support, so you might need to build that yourself.

OK, so I've checked the code out via SVN and VMWare Player...built the new rockbox.zip and H10_20GC.mi4 files and loaded these onto my H10 - still no luck.  Anyone have any suggestions - change the CF card I'm using maybe (a SanDisk Extreme III 16GB)?

Hi, I'm trying to do this on a Samsung YH-925. I think The 925 is very similar to the H10.
However i cant get my player to detect the CF card. Might there be any voltage problems?
Or are my CF card not ATA compliant? I'm using a Sandisk Ultra II 4GB at he moment.
If anyone has any info, pleas help.

Regards
Nichlas

That i did. Without success
The CF adapter i bought are the green one from dealextreme.
People seem to have had success with that one on other players.
I also ordered a transend 8 GB CF card, but it is out of stock for now.
So i bought the only type of card my local store had just to try (sandisk Ultra II)
If anyone have had any success on the H10 or on samsung y-92X i would be grateful for all the help i can get.
The problem is that the player doesn't even see the CF card.
Shouldn't it detect it? Even if the card isn't fully ATA operational?
