Using an external harddrive with Gigabeat FX? Possible?
« on: August 10, 2008, 11:50:54 AM »
Hello,

I've been contemplating getting a new and bigger harddrive to put in my Gigabeat f40, then it occurred to me that I've got a  nice small portable harddrive with USB2.0 support.

Does anyone know if this can be done via the usb port? If so, where can I look to make it happen? I know someone has achieved this with the PSP, so perhaps it can be done here as well.

My gigabeat is stationary with my stereo at home, so portability isn't an issue.

In theory it can be done, but (a) IIRC the Gigabeat F's host controller is OHCI, so full-speed only (but that's probably enough if you just want to play audio that's on it), and (b) someone has to do the work. This is not something that is done in two or three free afternoons.

Ahhh, Thanks for the info. I certainly didn't expect it to be done quickly, but had hoped someone had already done it :)

So, we wait....
