I'm building an auto sound system using my 60gig Ipod as the only head unit (receiver). Every reason that would make that a bad idea is addressed by Rockbox! Plus a parametric EQ

What I was hoping to find by entering the forums was a left-right time delay feature that I might have missed in the manual. Now while I have no head unit at all, I know there are a lot of people that are using their Ipods (or other brand) docked to their head units. For those of them that paid somewhere near $1000 for that unit, and were able to use the 3-way active crossover and time alignment feature, more power to'em. But for most people docking their Ipods, even if they're using a built in 3-way crossover in the head unit, there is no feature to delay the sound to the driver to correspond to the speaker furthest from him (her).
After reading through the section on crossfeeding, I was hoping that a simple left side/ right side alignment might be possible. By dropping most of the features, and adding an adjustment for delay in milliseconds.
The only way to achieve a true time alignment from an Ipod would be to have an on board crossover, and run three separate lines out. Not happening. But, if a simple time delay for only left and right channels were available, then most of the off center driver's seat issues would be addressed. Especially if the builder of the system paid attention to grouping the mid-bass, mid range and tweeters as closely together as possible. Like I did!
