audio format request
wraith10219:
well this is sorta just a request but there are two things rockbox needs to support .dbl files or 64 bit doubles which is a very high quality audio im a music developer and well most come hot off as top quality .dbl files so just a request to put that into rockbox. the other thing i would like to see support for is gameboy advance games, i currently own a zune v 2.0 4 gb and a sansa e260 plus the gbc's and gb's run perfectly and you only need enough buttons for a,b,up,down, left, right, start, and select so could you help me out? if you cant its okay.
Llorean:
For GBA: The Sansa is pretty slow, and the GBA requires two more buttons (the left and right shoulder bumpers) that you've forgotten.
For "dbl", can you link to some specification or description of this audio format. I've never heard of it, and while it's unlikely there will be an implementation under a compatible license available for use, without a description beyond a file extension (which doesn't actually mean anything on its own) you're unlikely to get any response at all.
wraith10219:
For GBA: Im Talkin simple games ones that wouldnt require the bumpers.
For .dbl: well i dont have the real technical knowledge on it but the best i can say is its the top quality format of audio through adobe audition, i think it has a codec i could upload though.
Llorean:
For GBA: This doesn't resolve the fact that the hardware is still not fast enough.
For .dbl: Ah, they're just 64-bit RAW audio. This is pointless to support in Rockbox since playback is limited by the hardware, and there's no portable hardware that can put audio out at even remotely near this. If you want the top quality Rockbox can support, convert down to a lossless format at rates the hardware can actually play back.
saratoga:
I don't think RAW files are really appropriate to listen to on a DAP. PCM should always have a header, such as .WAV or .AIFF. Use one of those two.
That said using PCM for playback is really silly. Use flac instead, the file size will be much smaller.
