iPod Video 5G, video viewing problems

(1/1)

Idoexist:
Everytime I play movies using the mpegplayer, the movies lag and sort of stop and keep going, for lack of better word.

Anyone know how to fix the video quality and make it all work out?

Chronon:
Allow Mpegplayer to skip frames.  Maybe limit the video bitrate of your movies.

I've posted a topic about that here: http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=16330.msg122226#msg122226

It explains how to encode the video correctly with FFmpeg in order to prevent the lag.

The iPod can't play MPEG videos at a full 29.97 fps frame rate. That's why it lags. However, most encoders don't allow encoding in MPEG-2 with a frame rate below 24 fps. My topic explains how to bypass this and how to encode videos that won't lag on the iPod video by taking advantage of other parameters.

Thanks to both of you for the information, I'll be sure to try both of your ideas to see how they work out. ;)
