Rockbox on IPOD Gen 5.5 --VIDEO OUT PLUGIN?!?!?!

(1/3) > >>

Hi,

First of all I would like to commend the Rockbox crew for making an alternative to the IPOD's OS ( or front end, or w/e the hell ya wanna call it).  I do have a couple of questions, though.

Are there any plug-ins for the IPOD Video 5.5 for video OUT with Rockbox?  The factory OS had video out and it worked well.. I would HATE to sacrifice it.

Also, I have been reading that the mp4/m4v are too software intensive to be properly displayed and decoded by Rockbox.  Can someone explain this to me.  I would think that if the factory OS can do it then why can't a beefed up free source OS do it ( or front-end or w/e u want me to call it) :P  I suppose I could just call it "firmware".

One More.....

Is it possible to put Multi firmware's on.  Such as being able to use factory for Video Out and still be able to switch to Rockbox?

Thanks in Advance.

Yes, the iPods can dual-boot.

Can you explain to me the multi-boot installing process?

MarcGuay:
It's the normal install method as layed out in the manual.
