Gigabeat F40 defaults to same settings on startup

No. It always goes back to the same theme (cabbie v2), even though I load various different ones (that all worked fine yesterday morning.)


Edit....I was able to do a full re-initialize (and it finished committing the database on reboot) finally. After that, the settings stayed for a couple power-downs and reboots, and then after the third reboot, it went back to the cabbie v2 theme as before and the other settings reverted back as well. Bizarre. Thoughts, anyone?

File system problems so saving / reading the config.cfg in rockbox.cfg is having trouble would be my guess.

Run a chkdsk /f on the gigabeat, and see if that helps.

Did it. Looks good so far. I'll post an update in about 9 hours after i've thoroughly tested it. Thanks much!

Good to hear that worked.  I was about to suggest a chkdsk as well, though I hesitated since you didn't seem to be having other signs of filesystem problems.     :)
