Using old 1.8 HD in portable casing
(1/1)
Rapide_23:
I recently purchased a 1.8-inch HD enclosure, and was planning on putting my old Toshiba MK2004GAL from my iRiver H320 into it. However, when I put the HD in and then plug the whole assembly to my computer, nothing happens. No pop ups, the HD doesn't even spin, but the little status light on the adapter comes on.
Can anybody lend a helping hand? Thanks.
LambdaCalculus:
Is the drive plugged in firmly? My enclosure does the same thing, and sometimes I notice that the drive has slipped off the connector in those cases.
Disconnect the enclosure from your PC, then open it and check that the drive is seated on the pins.
If this still doesn't work, then the enclosure itself may be no good.

This doesn't seem to have anything to do with Rockbox...

The drive is firmly plugged in. The first unit I was sent didn't work, so I thought that was stuffed.
Got sent a replacement today. Still doesn't work.
Is there some kind of configuration needed with the H320's hard disk?
AlexP:
This still doesn't seem to be related to Rockbox - locked.
If you can explain why it is related, please PM me and I will unlock it.
