Black screen when turning on my e270 w/ rockbox

(1/1)

desipher:
I am at a loss here as to why my Sansa e270 with rockbox refuses to boot sometimes. I have completely formatted it and reinstalled the latest rockbox firmware, and it still happens. Sometimes if i leave it turned off for an hour or two then turn it on, it will boot as normal.

Another problem i've noticed it when i connect the usb to my computer, it loads to a black screen with the words "Rockbox boot loader Version 4.0 Sandisk Sansa e200" and charges fine, but it won't actually connect to my computer, so transfering music is impossible. Once again if i leave it off for a few hours and try again it works fine.

Why does this seem to happen often, albeit randomly? Thank you.

I have had this happen a couple of times. It has nothing to do with rockbox, but is a hardware issue with a fix.
Unscrew the back cover and remove the cover. above the battery you will see a black rectangular shape on the top right. push on it and you will hear a click. This will re-seat the connector onto the screen and all should be good.
hope it fixes your problem.

That works great, but when i plug it in to charge, it happens again, black screen when i boot up. I have no idea why that would happen...
