Sansa e250 headphone jack loose

<< < (2/2)

MajiKool Dragonâ„¢:
the exact same thing happened to my c250. :(
that why i no longer use it. :(
though i don't know if its the same contact that broke.

dreamlayers:
The pad that ripped off seems pretty obvious: it just connects to the nearby surface mount resistor (just left of it in the closeup, sansacloseupcm8.jpg).

I wonder if something else is broken however.  In Sansa.jpg (the first image) I see what looks like it might be a piece of copper above the board.  In the closeup, I also see a raised circle around the ripped off pad and a suspicious bit on the trace below the pad, which might be corroded, perhaps even totally.

In any case, you replace broken connections with solder and short thin wires and glue stuff with non-conductive glue.  I would probably also epoxy the jack to the board to relieve stress on the connections.

Chronon:
dreamlayers: you have good eyes.  I see the circular raised bit and agree that corrosion is a good candidate to explain that.
