Ipod 30g freezes.
(1/1)
hbk:
Hi, I'm new to this board but I've been using Rockbox for a long time. Now I have a problem that I couldn't fix myself so I'm posting this problem here.
So I tried to plug in my ipod to my computer, but it loaded with Rockbox firmware, so I tried to switch to Apply OF by toggling the hold button on red when I restarted it. Somehow I guess I did that a bit late during the boot up and it went to Rockbox firmware and I got a Data Abort error while the computer couldn't recognize the ipod.
I tried to hold MENU+SELECT for long several times to reset it but it didn't work. The battery was almost full. So now my question is should I just wait till the batter runs out or anyone has some better idea? In addition, I don't think there's hardware issue with the buttons because I just used them to reset my ipod before it got frozen.
Any advice is highly appreciated. Thanks!
Llorean:
Turn hold on then off again, and try menu+select again. It'll always work, but it may take longer than you think, and always be careful not to let your fingers wiggle.

hi, thanks for your help.
I tried that many times but it still doesn't work. It's still sticking on the data abort error screen.
Llorean:
Keep trying, and eventually the screen will clear and it'll reset. Try holding it for as long as 30 seconds.
You need to reset it and go into disk mode. The first step is being able to reset it, and Hold On then Off, then Menu+Select always works eventually.

hi, I tried to hold the buttons for over one minute, but it seems still nothing changed. Could it be the firmware damaged due to improper connection to USB port? When I plug in my ipod now, the computer can't recognize it either.
Edit:
Now here's a new progress. It seems the battery finally ran out and now I plugged it in the computer. It's the "Please wait, very low battery" screen there a while ago. And now it's the charging screen of Apple OF and I can see the ipod drive in my computer. I guess it's working now?
